Current as of May 16, 2024

Our commitment to privacy

At Fresh Fonts, we take your privacy very seriously. In this privacy policy, we seek to explain to you in the clearest and most transparent way possible what information we collect, how we use it and what rights you have in relation to it.

This privacy policy applies to all information collected or submitted on the Fresh Fonts website, including its subdomains, newsletter, membership, and related services or events (we refer to them collectively in this privacy policy as our “services”).

Acceptance of these terms

By using the site, you are accepting the practices described in this privacy policy. If there are any practices in this privacy policy that you do not agree with, please discontinue the use of our website and of our services.

Note: the privacy practices set forth in this privacy policy are for this website only. If you follow links to other websites, please review the privacy policies posted at those sites.

The information we collect

The personal information that we collect depends on the context of your interactions with us, the choices you make and the products and features you use.

We do not collect personally identifiable information about you if you only browse our website. For visitors of our website we collect anonymous and aggregated information on which pages have been viewed so we can improve our website from a performance standpoint. We collect this data with Google Analytics.

We only collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when expressing an interest in obtaining our newsletter, becoming a member, or otherwise contacting us. Note that if you do not provide some of your data, we will not be able to provide the requested or contracted services.

When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect the following personal information from you: email address, IP address, and the date and time of your registration. If you choose to fill out our newsletter signup form, we will also collect the information that you provide then.

When you become a member, we collect the following personal information from you: first name, last name, email address, profession, and payment information. We also collect passwords, password hints, and similar security information used for authentication and account access.

The way we use information

This section is intended to inform you in particular about the type, scope, purpose, duration, and legal basis for the processing of such data either under our own control or in conjunction with others. We also inform you below about the third-party components we use to optimize our website and improve the user experience which may result in said third parties also processing data they collect and control.

Free Newsletter

We offer you the opportunity to register for our free newsletter via our website. We use email addresses submitted on the website to send the newsletter and other relevant email updates (such as updates to this privacy policy). These email addresses are not used for any other purpose and are not shared with outside parties. We use Beehiiv to manage our email list and send out our newsletter. Beehiiv is GDPR compliant and their privacy statement is here.

If you register for our free newsletter, the data requested from you for this purpose, i.e. your email address, will be processed by Beehiiv. In addition, your IP address and the date and time of your registration will be saved. During the registration process, we will obtain your consent to receive this newsletter and the type of content it will offer, with reference made to this privacy policy.

The newsletter then sent out will also contain a tracking pixel called a web beacon. This pixel helps us evaluate whether and when you have read our newsletter and whether you have clicked any links contained therein. The data processed will be stored so that we can optimize our newsletter and respond to the wishes of our readers. The data will therefore increase the quality and attractiveness of our newsletter.

You can unsubscribe from the mailing list at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any email.

For buyers of our product, we collect basic information such as your email, full name, address and billing information which we are lawfully required to collect in order to do a business transaction with you. Your email address is collected so we can send you the requested paid version of the newsletter.

Because of the nature of the product, which involves font licenses, a contract between the Fresh Fonts member (the “end user”) and the type foundry who owns the rights to the fonts is established. Fresh Fonts might share your full name and email address with a type foundry in order to provide the requested font files. This is necessary in order for the type foundry to have a record of their font license owners, and making sure that you can use their fonts rightfully.

When you register a member account with the Fresh Fonts website, you will need to choose a contact email address and a password. This information is collected, and stored, so you can log in. We will also collect qualitative information such as your profession and level of experience. We use the qualitative information you provide about yourself when becoming a member only for or own research purpose. We do not share this information with outside parties.

Payment information

When becoming a member and continuing to use our paid service, you will be asked for financial details such as credit/debit card information. The processing of these payments is carried out by our payment processor, Stripe. We do not store any credit or debit card information. Stripe has been audited by a PCI-certified auditor, and is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1. (This is the most stringent level of certification available). Their security assurances and privacy policy are available on their website.

Website analytics

Google Analytics collects the most common anonymous information such as your IP address, the domain you’ve requested, the name of your internet provider (depending how your ISP is configured), the time length you spent on our website, the time you visited our website, the individual pages you’ve accessed, the website that referred us to our website (if there is one), your geographic location (country/city) based on your IP address as well as the operating system you’re using (which includes the browser software). All this information is stored and collected by Google. We do not store or process that information ourselves but use it to improve our website.

Data security

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. When collecting financial information from you, we use secure socket layer software (SSL).

Although most changes are likely to be minor, we may update this privacy policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated “Current as of” date at the top of this page, and the updated version will be effective as soon as it is accessible. If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we may notify you by placing a notice on another page of the website or by sending you an email.
